Matanda-Moyo Declares Tough Crackdown on Corruption
Prosecutor General Justice Loyce Matanda-Moyo has sent a chilling warning to corrupt officials, declaring that the long arm of justice is closing in and this time, there will be no mercy.
Speaking in Bulawayo during the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Strategic Plan Review Workshop, Matanda-Moyo said Zimbabwe’s anti-graft fight has entered a new, unforgiving phase.

“We have secured 17 convictions in high-profile corruption cases,” she announced.
“Our resolve is best demonstrated by landmark rulings that are sending shockwaves to the corrupt.”
Citing the Hurungwe Rural District Council case where three senior officials were jailed for a staggering 174 years combined she said the message was crystal clear: the era of impunity is over.
“The criminal justice delivery system frowns on corruption,” she said firmly.
“Let me be unequivocal there are no sacred cows.”
Matanda-Moyo also revealed her office is cleaning up its own house.
She cited the conviction of former prosecutor Pardon Dziwa, now serving eight years for demanding a US$20,000 bribe from gold smuggler Henrietta Rushwaya, as proof of internal accountability.
With a 74.2% case clearance rate and 91% success in the Midlands backlog elimination drive, Matanda-Moyo said the NPA’s reforms are yielding results.
