Masowe4ED Rally Calls on Mnangagwa to Stay Past 2030

A massive crowd estimated at more than 42,000 people marched in Harare yesterday as the Masowe4ED movement rallied behind calls for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2030.
The push, led by NAMFED Chief Convener and Masowe4ED Senior Advisor Obey Mapuranga during the launch of Masowe4ED, calls for President Mnangagwa to continue beyond his final constitutional term.
Addressing the crowd, Mapuranga said the march brought together an unusual mix of faith communities.

“I’m sure you witnessed the unexpected today Muslims, Jews and various Christian denominations all joined our Masowe4ED march endorsing President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2030,” he said.

“Pentecostal churches and many other denominations have shown their support for this endorsement as we proceed with our march backing the President.”
NAMFED, which identifies as an affiliate of ZANU PF, went on to declare its stance on the country’s next election cycle.
“NAMFED… is saying we do not want elections in 2028.
“We want to give the President space to decide, but our position is clear; we do not want him to step down; we want him to remain in power until 2030,” Mapuranga said.
He insisted the march far exceeded expectations.
“We had anticipated a turnout of about 22,000 people, but our headcounts backed by drone footage showed that more than 42,000 supporters participated in today’s march,” he claimed.
