Maskiri Granted US$50 Bail as Negotiations for Goat Dispute Settlement Begin
Rapper Allicious “Maskiri” Musimbe appeared at the Chitungwiza Magistrates Court yesterday after being arrested in a police sting operation that involved a fake birthday party designed to lure him in.
Initial reports mistakenly described the operation as a wedding; however, the court clarified that officers posed as birthday party planners seeking to book Maskiri for a performance. He was granted bail set at US$50 and is required to return to court on December 2. As part of his bail conditions, he must reside at his address in Chitungwiza and avoid interference with any witnesses. His father and a few family members were present during the court proceedings.
The arrest stems from a dispute concerning a goat transaction with US-based Zimbabwean Tonderayi Chisoro. Chisoro claims he sent Maskiri US$1,500 via Mukuru to purchase five Boer and Kalahari Red goats. However, after receiving the funds, Maskiri allegedly failed to deliver the animals and ceased communication.

Following a complaint by Chisoro’s relatives at the Chitungwiza Police Station (CR559/11/25), law enforcement initiated the sting operation. Two undercover officers, referred to as Dulani and Mushaninga, posed as event organizers and negotiated a US$300 performance fee with Maskiri, who even suggested involving fellow artist Tererai Mugwadi.
On the day of the operation, officers contacted Maskiri, claiming to have secured a US$200 deposit, and arranged to meet him at Chicken Inn, Unit C junction, where he was subsequently arrested.
Negotiations for an out-of-court settlement are now in progress. The association that Maskiri is part of, Mash Goats, has offered to compensate Chisoro with goats to resolve the matter. Chisoro, also known as “Zimbo Trucker,” confirmed the discussions:
“The Mash Goats leadership reached out to me after the court session, expressing their willingness to compensate me with some goat breeds. They plan to send me videos of the available goats, and once I’m satisfied, my team will arrange to collect them. They’ve set a deadline for Sunday,” he stated.
The case continues as it awaits possible restitution and further court actions.
