Man’s Naked Body Found in Suspected Ritual Killing
A horrifying discovery has sent shockwaves through the Soshanguve community after the naked body of a 38-year-old man was found near a river in Block DD on Saturday, 14 September, in what appears to be a ritual killing.
The body, discovered alongside ritual items including a black goat and black candles, has sparked fear among locals. Taxi driver Bafana Nkabubde, who stumbled upon the scene, described the disturbing sight.
“We found him completely naked, and his clothes were a few meters away. A black goat and black candles were lying next to him. It looked like some kind of ritual had been performed,” said Nkabubde. He also noted that the river was only a few meters away from the body.
Nkabubde said they couldn’t determine if the man had been mutilated, as they didn’t want to disturb the body, which was found face down. “We asked around, but no one in the area knew who he was. It seems he was brought here, used for the ritual, and left behind.”
Another resident, Nthabiseng Mathata, expressed her fear. “We’ve seen candles and coins left around before, but black candles and a goat? That’s something new and very scary,” she said.
The incident has led to growing concerns about ritual killings in the area, with many residents now living in fear. Authorities are urging anyone with information to assist in the investigation.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened. “Police responded to a call and found the body naked, with clothes nearby. Investigations are still underway, and no arrests have been made,” Masondo stated.
The Soshanguve community is calling for increased police patrols as fears of ritual killings escalate. Residents hope that law enforcement can provide security and reassurance amid rising concerns.
