Manchester City Springs Surprise by Naming Rodri to Champions League Squad

By Loyd Matare

Manchester City has included injured midfielder Rodri in their squad for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, sparking hopes of a potential return to action for the Spanish star.

Rodri, who has been sidelined since September with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, was expected to miss the remainder of the season.

However, his surprise inclusion in the squad has raised eyebrows and fueled speculation about a possible comeback.

Meanwhile, new signing Vitor Reis has been left out of the squad due to UEFA’s rules governing new signings in the knockout stage.

The regulations limited Manchester City to registering just three new players, and Reis ultimately missed the cut.

Rodri’s inclusion in the squad is a significant boost for Manchester City, who are gearing up for a highly anticipated last-16 showdown with Real Madrid.

The first leg of the tie is scheduled for February 11, and the return of Rodri would undoubtedly provide a major lift for Pep Guardiola’s side.

While Rodri’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, his presence in the squad is a clear indication that Manchester City are holding out hope for his return.

As the Champions League knockout stage heats up, all eyes will be on Rodri’s progress, and the possibility of a dramatic comeback.
