Man Utd edge past Westham with a 3-0 win at home

Man United edge past Westham with a 3-0 win at home .Manchester United secured a comfortable 3-0 win over West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday, with goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho. Hojlund, celebrating his 21st birthday, started the scoring with his 10th goal since joining the club for £72million in the summer.

The holy trinity

The Dane has now scored in each of his last four Premier League games and is the youngest-ever player to find the net in four consecutive appearances for United. Meanwhile, Garnacho scored his first of the match with a brace in the second half. United’s young stars showed huge promise for the future and could become stalwarts in Erik Ten Hag’s plans for the next decade.

Casemiro provided the assist for Hojlund’s goal but also displayed signs of getting back up to speed after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Brazilian was on the wrong end of a rollicking from Bruno Fernandes in the first half after a series of careless passes up the pitch that saw United lose possession. Fernandes often drops deep into midfield to control the tempo and wear the captain’s armband at the heart of the team.

With West Ham’s visit to Old Trafford the closest fixture to the 66th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster, United remembered the 23 individuals who lost their lives on 6 February 1958.Ten Hag and David Moyes led the teams out of the tunnel carrying wreaths and also hosted 48 relatives of the players who died in the tragedy.

United paid tribute to the eight players, three club staff and 12 other victims of the disaster, including Geoff Bent, Roger Byrne, Eddie Colman, Duncan Edwards, Mark Jones, David Pegg, Tommy Taylor and Liam Whelan. While United’s young stars are making a promising start to their careers, they still have a long way to go to earn a reputation like the legendary trio of Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis Law and George Best in United folklore.
