Man stabs love rival for cuddling girlfriend

A 21-YEAR-OLD man from Njube suburb in Bulawayo allegedly stabbed his love rival several times with an okapi knife after he caught him cuddling his girlfriend.

The incident happened near a beerhall in Njube suburb and was confirmed by Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.

She warned members of the public against carrying dangerous weapons such as knives adding that anyone found in possession of such would be arrested.

“We would like to strongly warn members of the public against carrying weapons such as axes, knives, machetes and iron bars because whoever is found in possession of such will be arrested,” she said.

A witness who requested anonymity said Godknows Mhokore (18) boiled with anger after he caught Edwin Nkiwane (21) who also stays in Njube suburb cuddling his 15-year-old girlfriend near a beerhall situated in the suburb.

“An argument ensued between the two parties and in the heat of things Mhokore reached for an okapi knife and stabbed his love rival nine times. Blood gushed out as he helplessly lay on the ground and he later passed out,” said the witness.

After severely stabbing him Mhokore reportedly fled from the scene leaving behind his victim lying in a pool of blood.

A Good Samaritan rushed Nkiwane to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical attention.

The incident was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Mhokore.
