Man Sentenced to 111 Years for Horrific Crimes Against Women

The Bindura Regional Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 38-year-old man to 111 years in prison for a string of violent crimes committed against women in the Mt Darwin and Madziwa areas of Mashonaland Central Province.
Luckmore Mazambani, of Chakondora Village, Chief Madziwa, was convicted of six counts of rape and three counts of robbery. The crimes were committed between January and December 2023.
According to court records, Mazambani targeted women who lived alone, breaking into their homes at night armed with machetes and axe-handles. Once inside, he would rob them of their valuables, including cash, cellphones, and groceries, before brutally raping them with extreme violence.

The court sentenced Mazambani to 15 years for each count of rape and 12 years for each count of robbery, resulting in the cumulative sentence of 111 years.
The conviction and sentencing of Mazambani bring closure to the victims and their families, and serve as a deterrent to would-be perpetrators of similar crimes.
