Man sentenced for molesting stepdaughter
KADOMA – A 41-year-old Kadoma resident was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for indecently assaulting a 13-year-old minor, fondling her breasts twice while her mother attended a funeral.
The accused, whose identity was not disclosed to protect the minor’s privacy was brought before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court on indecent assault charges.
The accused person is the stepfather of the complainant.
Circumstances are that on 27th July 2024, the complainant’s mother left the 13-year-old complainant in the custody of the accused person while she was away to attend a funeral.
The court heard that on the following evening, the accused person took the complainant to the nearby shops. Upon their return, he grabbed her, pressing her against the wall of a nearby house and proceeded to fondle her breasts and private parts.
It is alleged that when the accused heard the voices of people talking, he ran away.
When the complainant went back home, she locked herself inside the house. However, when the accused person returned home, he continued to fondle her breasts before trying to remove her clothes.
The court further heard that the minor hit the accused and then fled to her neighbor’s house, where she narrated her ordeal to her mother over the phone.
A police report was made, resulting in the arrest of the accused person.
