A local man has been accused of raping a nine-year-old girl who had come to his home for extra lessons. The incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about child safety.
Inspector Abednigo Ncube, a spokesperson for the Bulawayo police, confirmed the allegations, stating that the incident occurred on the afternoon of September 28.
The girl and a friend had arrived at the man’s residence for additional tutoring when the suspect called the girl into his bedroom, claiming he would provide private lessons.
Inside the bedroom, the man allegedly removed the girl’s clothing and threatened her with violence if she screamed or made any noise.
“He then laid her on the bed and raped her twice without protection,” Ncube reported.
After the assault, the accused reportedly took photographs of the girl in a state of undress before sending her back to the sitting room where her friend was waiting. The girl returned home later that day without revealing what had happened.
The situation escalated the following day when the girl’s mother received explicit images from an unknown number. Alarmed, she questioned her daughter, who then disclosed the details of the sexual assault.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case, and the community is urged to remain vigilant in protecting children from such heinous acts.
