Man Mistaken for a Corpse while Taking ‘Bush Rest’

Man Mistaken for a Corpse while Taking ‘Bush Rest’ – A 60-year-old man seeking shelter for the night caused alarm on Monday morning after being mistaken for a deceased body in Verulam.
A pedestrian passing by the R102 spotted the man lying in a dense bush, partially covered by a black refuse bag.
Assuming the worst, they quickly alerted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), who received the call at approximately 07h52.

Officers rushed to the scene and carefully made their way through the thick vegetation.
Upon reaching the man, they removed the bag covering his upper body—only for him to wake up, startling the officers.
He explained that he was a resident of Ndwedwe, KZN, and had been stranded in Verulam CBD the previous night due to a lack of transport. With no means to return home, he had chosen to rest in the bush until morning.
Despite the unexpected scare, the man, a self-employed toy maker who crafts items from wire, was unharmed.
