Man gets 20 years for raping girlfriend’s mother

RUSAPE – A 39-year-old Inyathi man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping and assaulting his girlfriend’s 80-year-old mother whom he forced to touch his manhood during a dispute over her daughter’s whereabouts.

The accused whose identity has not been disclosed to safeguard the victim’s privacy was brought before the Rusape Magistrates’ Court on assault and rape charges.

According to the State’s case, on June 1, 2024, at around 0015 hours, the accused stormed into the 80-year-old complainant’s house, looking for his girlfriend who is the complainant’s daughter.

The court heard that the accused demanded to know his girlfriend’s whereabouts but the complainant claimed she was unaware.

It is alleged that this did not go well with the accused person who then started assaulting the complainant with open hands several times on her face and smashed her head against the wall several times.

He then ordered the complainant to touch his manhood before raping her.

Upon arrival from errands, the accused person’s girlfriend and her brother heard their mother screaming and rushed to the scene where they found the accused person on top of the complainant.

The complainant revealed that the accused person had assaulted and raped her.

A police report was subsequently filed, leading to the accused person’s arrest.
