Man Burns Down Mother’s Home in Meth Money Dispute

THAILAND — A 30-year-old man in Thailand allegedly burned down his mother’s house after she refused to give him money to buy methamphetamine, police reported.
The fire destroyed the two-story home in Ban Kamphi, a rural village in southwest Thailand, on Friday morning.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the mother and her grandchildren had left the house before the blaze started.
Authorities say the suspect became enraged when his mother declined to provide money for drugs, leading him to set fire to the family home.
Due to the wooden structure and extreme temperatures, the fire spread rapidly, destroying the house and damaging nearby properties.
Emergency crews responded swiftly, and police arrested the suspect upon arrival.
Social media users across Thailand expressed concern over drug-related crimes and sympathy for the mother.
Many condemned substance abuse, with one commenter stating, “Drugs are such a terrible problem in society.”
A similar case in the UK, reported by Mirror, involved a man who set fire to his bungalow after taking monkey dust.
The blaze caused £100,000 worth of damage, and he was later sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison for arson with intent to endanger life.
Authorities in Thailand continue to warn the public about the devastating consequences of drug addiction and its impact on families and communities.
