Man Burns Groceries He Bought, Pours Acid on Wife While Drunk; Arrested for Domestic Violence

A 30-year-old man, Shakemore Manyepa from Kwekwe has been ordered to remain in custody until December 3, 2025, following accusations of physically abusing his wife using a dangerous chemical.

The incident took place on November 26, 2025, when Manyepa returned home intoxicated.

Reports state that he began to burn groceries he had bought, leading to a confrontation with his wife. The situation escalated, and it is alleged that he poured sulphuric acid on her face.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is urging communities to take a stand against gender-based violence (GBV) and to resolve conflicts peacefully and legally.
