Man Accused of Raping Grade 7 Girl in Harare Claims He’s Missing Testicles

Givemore Mutape, accused of raping a Grade Seven pupil at Rezende Bus Terminus in Harare’s CBD, insisted in court that he is incapable of sexual intercourse due to a disability, stating he does not have testicles.

Mutape appeared before Harare regional magistrate Fadzai Mthombeni, pleading not guilty to the charges. He requested a medical examination to support his claims about his incapacity.

The prosecution, led by Chido Gohori, presented evidence alleging that on July 19, the schoolgirl had left home around midday to collect money from her stepfather for extra lessons. After receiving US$10, she attempted to board a kombi to return home when touts obstructed her entry.

According to the charges, Mutape then approached her, pretending to offer help, and forced her into a white kombi parked nearby. Inside, he allegedly locked the doors and raped her, using a cloth to suffocate her cries. The girl managed to return home afterward; it was only several days later that she disclosed the incident to her teacher.

In his defense, Mutape rejected the prosecution’s claims that he works as a tout. He maintained that he was repairing car radios on the day of the incident, specifically working on a kombi radio for a man he referred to as Khule. Mutape recounted how the schoolgirl had approached Khule and inquired about a rank marshal named Night Mashayamanja, whom he claimed to know.

He stated he took a message for the girl and was shocked when police found him using his WhatsApp profile picture, accusing him of the crime against a girl he believed was associated with Night.

The trial continues, with Mutape maintaining his innocence and contesting the allegations against him.
