Magaya’s Yadah Hotel and Heart Stadium Not to be Auctioned

Prophet Walter Magaya’s Yadah Hotel and Heart Stadium will not be auctioned in Harare, despite online reports suggesting otherwise.
The auction, which will be held at Raylton Sports Club and conducted by Graham & Douglas Real Estate, includes about 30 properties.
The sale was announced under instructions from the Sheriff’s Office of Zimbabwe, the Herald reports.
However, an official from the auction company confirmed that Yadah Hotel and Heart Stadium are not among the properties listed for sale.
Instead, two other properties linked to Magaya are set to be auctioned. These include Prayer Mountain and a property in Prospect.
One of the properties is Stand 166 Smuts Road in Prospect, which sits on 3.2 hectares and includes a six-bedroom house, lounge, dining room, and staff quarters.
It is registered under Planet Africa (Private) Limited, a company directed by Magaya and his wife.
Another property listed is an 8.7-hectare property at No. 6 Caledon Avenue in Prospect, Waterfalls.
The auction follows a legal dispute between Planet Africa and microfinance bank GetBucks.
In June last year, GetBucks approached the High Court seeking to liquidate Magaya’s estate over a debt of more than US$420,000.
Meanwhile, police last year recovered several unregistered medicines during a raid at Yadah Hotel.
A director of the hotel, Donald Makuvaza, appeared in court and pleaded guilty to charges related to possession of unregistered and unapproved medicines.
The case has been postponed to March 10 for further proceedings.
Police say detectives found various medicines, including antibiotics and other treatments, during a search of one hotel room.
The State alleges that hotel officials did not have permission to possess the medicines.
Investigations and court proceedings are continuing.
