Magaya’s Hotel Empire Crumbles Under Court-Ordered Auction

Prophet Walter Magaya’s multimillion-dollar hotel complex is headed for auction after the High Court in Harare ordered its sale over a legal dispute.

The ruling, filed under Case Number SH3294/25, follows a successful application by Chinese national Li Xiu Yun to enforce the sale of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries’ rights and title to Stand 168 of Prospect — a 3.84-hectare estate located at 168 Smuts Road, Waterfalls.

The property, which includes a four-star standard hotel, several cluster lodges, and a stadium, has long stood as a landmark development in the Prospect area.

Once celebrated as a symbol of PHD Ministries’ commercial success, the estate now faces the auction block — a dramatic reversal that signals financial strain within the ministry’s business ventures.

According to The Herald, the writ of execution granted by the High Court paves the way for the forced sale of one of the ministry’s most prominent assets.

The legal action stems from unresolved obligations involving Li Xiu Yun, whose court victory has placed the future of the property in jeopardy.

The looming auction has stirred concern among congregants and observers, many of whom view the estate as central to the ministry’s public image and operational footprint.

As the sale process unfolds, attention is now focused on how Prophet Magaya and PHD Ministries will respond to the setback and whether this legal blow could trigger broader challenges for the church’s financial stability.
