Lulu Muteke officially Wicknell Chivayo’s wife – see pictures – Businessman and controversial tenderpreneur Wicknell Chivayo has officially sealed his union with fiancée Lucy “Lulu” Muteke in a lavish lobola ceremony held in Marondera today, where he paid a yet-to-be-disclosed bride price.
Ahead of the ceremony, Chivayo had shared that he introduced Lulu to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, jokingly calling himself “mukwasha to the President” since his wife comes from the Shumba clan.
He expressed gratitude for the President’s blessing and declared his commitment to love Lulu unconditionally.
However, it was Chivayo’s lavish spending that sparked widespread discussion.
In a widely circulated video, he is heard instructing his munyai (go-between) to inform his in-laws that he was not interested in prolonged negotiations.
He initially sent US$50,000 with the go-between, then personally arrived with another US$75,000, insisting on a swift transaction—what he called a “cash-and-carry” approach to marriage.
In addition to the US$125,000 cash payment, Chivayo gifted Lulu’s family a large herd of cattle, including five extra cows as a bonus and a purebred bull worth between US$8,000 and US$9,000.

Reactions to his grand gesture have been mixed. While some admire his show of wealth and generosity, others criticize it as an excessive commercialization of traditional marriage rites.
Chivayo, however, remains unfazed.
Describing the union as “unshakable”, he emphasized that today marks the beginning of a lifelong commitment to his new bride.
