Knowledge Musona ends retirement, returns to Warriors Squad

Knowledge Musona ends retirement, returns to Warriors Squad – Former Zimbabwe national team captain Knowledge Musona has made a sensational return to international football, rejoining the Warriors squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria.
The 34-year-old, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al Okhdood, initially retired from international duty in May 2022.

At the time, he cited the need to focus on his club career and create opportunities for younger players.
However, after persistent efforts from Warriors coach Michael Nees, Musona reconsidered his decision and is now set to don the national colors once again.
His comeback adds significant experience to the team, as he previously earned 54 caps and scored 24 goals for Zimbabwe during his 12-year international career.
Musona’s return follows a trend under Nees’ leadership, with other seasoned players such as Khama Billiat and Washington Arubi also rejoining the squad.
Billiat had previously announced his international retirement, while Arubi had fallen down the pecking order before earning a recall.
With Musona back in the fold, Zimbabwe will be hoping his leadership and goal-scoring ability can boost their World Cup qualification campaign.
