Knife attack over clearing field boundary ends in 4-year prison sentence for Mberengwa man
MBERENGWA- Mberengwa resident Fortune Hove received a 4-year prison sentence for stabbing a fellow villager in the neck with a knife following a dispute over field boundary clearance.
The accused(32) appeared in Mberengwa Magistrates Court on charges of attempted murder.
The court proved that on August 23, 2024, at 1900 hours, Hove visited the complainant’s place of residence in Gazimbi village and asked the complainant to accompany him home to resolve a boundary dispute.
Whilst on their way, the accused began accusing the complainant of encroaching on his field at the boundary, leading to a heated argument.
The accused pulled a knife from his pocket, stabbed the complainant once in the neck and then fled, leaving the complainant unconscious.
The accused was sentenced to 6 years’ imprisonment with 2 years suspended for 5 years, resulting in an effective prison term of 4 years.
