Kenyan Teacher Publicly Shames Sisters Over Lack of Underwear

Kenyan Teacher Publicly Shames Sisters Over Lack of Underwear – Two young sisters from Kenana Primary School in Njoro have become the centre of national outrage after they were allegedly humiliated by a teacher for not wearing underwear.

The girls, aged 12 and 16, were reportedly subjected to degrading treatment in front of nearly 20 teachers in the school’s staff room.

According to witness accounts and family reports, a female teacher forced the younger sister to remove her trousers in front of both male and female staff to confirm that she was not wearing underwear.

The teenager, who had come to school after previously being sent home over unpaid school fees, was similarly mocked.

The teacher is alleged to have mocked their family’s poverty, asking them whether their mother even bought them undergarments. Other staff in the room reportedly laughed during the incident.

Since the incident, both girls have remained at home, too embarrassed and emotionally shaken to face their classmates or teachers.

The family has been left dealing with deep emotional trauma, and their mother is now considering transferring them to another school.

The girls’ mother, Beatrice Cherop, expressed her heartbreak over the way her children were treated, questioning why the matter was not handled privately or with dignity.

“Why would she humiliate them in front of others? If there was an issue, she could have called me directly,” she said in an emotional statement to local media.
