Kelsea Tafirenyika Lawyers Apologise To First Family

Kelsea Tafirenyika Lawyers Apologise To First Family – Lawyers representing socialite Kelsea Tafirenyika have apologised to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa and the entire First Family over the controversy surrounding their client’s ongoing criminal case.

In a letter dated August 26, 2026, lawyers Admire Rubaya and Everson Chatambudza said Tafirenyika never intended to disrespect or drag the First Family into the matter.

The lawyers said unnamed “opportunists and detractors” had used the court proceedings to create narratives that allegedly scandalised the First Family.

“We wish to convey, without reservation, our client’s profound regret that the public discourse has taken a turn that could be perceived as disrespectful to yourself and the First Family,” the lawyers said.

They added that Tafirenyika “has at no stage dragged your name, Amai, into this debacle”.

“The association, such as it is, has been manufactured by others; opportunists, detractors and adversaries of the First Family who appear determined to exploit any proximity, however tenuous, to cause disharmony,” they said.

The lawyers said Tafirenyika was “deeply pained” that her name had become linked to a narrative she never sought to create.

They also said their client remains open to dialogue with the First Lady in an effort to resolve the controversy.

“Our client wishes to convey that she remains open to engaging with you on any matters that may have caused concern,” the lawyers said.

They added that she hoped for “a direct and respectful dialogue” that could bring closure to the matter.

Rubaya and Chatambudza also defended their conduct, saying they had merely carried out their client’s instructions in accordance with their professional duties.

“We simply put our client’s defence to the Investigating Officer, the same defence that she proffered during the recording of the warned and cautioned statement,” the lawyers said.

They further stressed that they had never intended to scandalise the First Lady or the First Family.

“We respect the person of the First Lady deeply, and we wish to assure you that it has never been our intention, neither now nor at any other time, to scandalize you or the First Family,” they said.

The letter concluded with the lawyers expressing hope that their apology and clarification would resolve concerns arising from the case.
