Water levels in Kariba Dam are falling again, reversing gains made during the winter season, Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) has confirmed.
The decline has been linked to reduced inflows from the upper Zambezi River catchment and increased evaporation as the region transitions into hotter months.

While ZRA says the current levels remain within the operational range, engineers have warned that a prolonged decline could impact power generation capacity, particularly as electricity demand rises.
The situation has raised concerns over potential power supply disruptions, with the dam being a key source of hydroelectric power for both Zimbabwe and Zambia.
The water levels are expected to continue dropping until the onset of the rainy season later in the year.
