Kadoma man jailed 10 months for log attack on unwilling fighter
KADOMA – A 23-year-old man from Kanyemba, Kadoma has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for assaulting a fellow patron with a log after challenging him to a fight while they drank beer together at Kanyemba Business Centre.
Whisper Muchengi indeed appeared before Kadoma Magistrates’ Court on assault charges.
The State alleges that on August 20, 2023, the complainant was enjoying beer with a friend at Kanyemba Business Centre when Muchengi approached and challenged him to a fight.
The court was told that when the complainant ignored the accused and walked away, the accused picked up a log and struck the complainant repeatedly.
The court heard that when the complainant fell, the accused person fled into the darkness.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe encourages members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third-party mediation.
