JZM Air Force Delivers Free Medical Care to 250 Sanyati Residents

A team of medical professionals from Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo (JZM) Air Force Base has been deployed to Ordoff Clinic in Sanyati to provide free healthcare services to local residents.

The outreach, which began on July 20 and concluded today, was part of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Community Assistance Week—a national initiative aimed at strengthening ties between the military and civilians.

JZM Base Commander, Air Commodore Ellen Chiweshe, who joined the team on Thursday, said the programme was designed to ensure access to basic health services for underserved communities.

“With this deliberate medical outreach programme, our team, led by a medical doctor, was deployed on July 20 to today.

“During this whole week, our medical team was offering basic outpatient services that comprise BP checking, diabetes checking, basic diagnosis of various ailments and consultation with a medical doctor,” she said.

In addition to medical consultations, the team conducted mental health education and campaigns against drug and substance abuse.

“I want to commend that as the ZDF, we encourage everyone to shun drug and substance abuse,” Air Commodore Chiweshe added.

Several serious cases were referred to Kadoma General Hospital for further care.

The outreach was supported by Natpharm and Kadoma General Hospital, whose involvement enabled the smooth delivery of resources and referrals.

According to The Herald, JZM medical officer Dr Kevin Kamuriwo reported that over 250 patients were assisted since Sunday.

Beneficiaries such as Ms Plaxidia Banda and Mr Aaron Bhishati welcomed the outreach, describing it as a rare opportunity to consult qualified medical professionals—especially significant in rural communities with limited healthcare access.

The successful outreach reflects ZDF’s ongoing commitment to public service beyond its core mandate, bringing crucial healthcare services closer to those who need them most.
