Justice for the innocent : 51-year-old remanded for assault

HWANGE – A 51-year-old man from Siabanga village has been arraigned in court for allegedly indecently assaulting a 19-year-old girl on her way back from fields.

The accused, whose identity remains undisclosed to safeguard the minor’s privacy, appeared before Hwange Magistrate Court on indecent assault charges and was remanded in custody until October 4, 2024 for judgment.

According to court testimony, on July 25, 2014, at 10:00 a.m, the accused encountered a 9-year-old girl walking with her two sisters from the fields. He allegedly grabbed the minor’s waist and placed her between his thighs, but stopped when one of the sisters intervened.

A police report was made, resulting in the accused’s arrest after investigations.
