Jay-Z and Diddy Accused in Rape Case Involving 13-Year-Old Girl
American rapper and music producer Jay-Z has been accused of raping a ‘then’ 13-year-old girl with hip-hop star Sean “Diddy” Combs in the year 2000, according to a civil lawsuit. Jay-Z has firmly denied these claims.
The updated lawsuit, filed on Sunday, alleges that Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and Diddy assaulted the girl at an afterparty after the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.
According to her lawsuit, a driver invited her to a party after a show. He said he worked for Diddy, reportedly told her she “fit what Diddy was looking for.”
When she arrived, she signed a paper she thought was a nondisclosure agreement and entered a party with drugs and celebrities.
She claims someone offered her a drink, and later she felt dizzy, so she went to rest in a room. Combs and Jay-Z then entered, and she alleges, Jay-Z removed her clothes, held her down and raped her while Combs and another woman watched.
She says Combs also raped her as Carter and the woman looked on. She resisted performing oral sex on Combs by hitting him in the neck, and he stopped.
After the incident, she left and called her father from a gas station. She is seeking damages under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
The lawsuit claims that Jay-Z accompanied Diddy during similar incidents and demands that both men face accountability.
Diddy is currently in jail facing serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Earlier documents referred to Jay-Z as “Celebrity A” in the complaint against Diddy. The updated lawsuit also accuses Jay-Z of filing a “frivolous” countersuit.
Jay-Z has responded, calling the allegations “ridiculous.”
The plaintiff originally filed the lawsuit in October with Diddy as the only defendant and resubmitted it on December 9 to include Jay-Z.
In a statement to NBC News, Jay-Z said, “These allegations are so serious that I urge you to file a criminal complaint instead of a civil one. Anyone who would commit such a crime against a minor should be put in prison.”
He added that the victims deserve justice, saying, “You have made a big mistake thinking all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I grew up in the projects of Brooklyn, where we protect children and have strict rules.”
