Infant Dies During ZIFA Referees’ Training Seminar – The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed a tragic incident that occurred during a referees’ training seminar, where an infant child belonging to one of the participants passed away.

In a statement released today, ZIFA said the female referee had attended the seminar with her two children when the sudden and unexpected death of her infant occurred.

Despite immediate efforts to assist, the child could not be saved.

ZIFA spokespersons noted that the matter has since been referred to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), who are now handling the case in line with legal procedures.

The football mother is receiving support from the association as investigations continue.

“As an Association, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and respectfully ask that their privacy be observed during this extremely difficult time,” ZIFA said.

The association also assured the public that any further updates will be communicated through its official channels.
