Indian Billionaire Dies in Bizarre Polo Incident After Swallowing Bee

ENGLAND – Indian billionaire Sunjay Kapur, chairman of auto parts giant Sona Comstar, suffered a fatal allergic reaction after accidentally swallowing a bee during a polo match in England.
The 53-year-old industrialist was competing in the Queen’s Cup tournament in Windsor when he suddenly appeared distressed and reportedly exclaimed that he had swallowed something.
Moments later, he collapsed on the field.
While officials have yet to confirm the precise cause of death, reports from The Telegraph and The Mirror suggest Kapur suffered a heart attack triggered by anaphylactic shock due to the bee sting.
His company, Sona Comstar, later announced his passing in a statement on social media.
Accidental insect ingestion is rare but has proven fatal in certain cases. Just six months ago, a cyclist in San Francisco died under similar circumstances, and in 2023, a professional cyclist in Brazil suffered the same fate.
According to Daily Mail, Kapur inherited his position as chairman of Sona Comstar following the death of his father in 2015.
The company, which operates globally with facilities in Serbia and Mexico, generates around 36 percent of its $412 billion business from electric vehicle components.
Beyond his corporate success, Kapur’s personal life had been controversial.
He was married to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor for 16 years, but their union ended in 2016 amid allegations of domestic abuse.
In court documents, Kapoor claimed Kapur once attempted to “auction” her off to friends during their honeymoon and instructed his mother to hit her while she was pregnant.
Kapur leaves behind three children, including two from his marriage with Kapoor.
His sudden death has shocked both the business and polo communities, raising awareness of the hidden dangers of allergic reactions to insect stings.
