India Fires Missile Barrage Into Pakistan as Retaliation Threat Looms

NEW DELHI — India launched a missile strike on nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir on Wednesday, targeting what it described as terrorist infrastructure, as tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations escalated.

The operation, dubbed “Operation Sindoor,” was announced by the Indian government, which stated that the strikes were precise, measured and non-escalatory, avoiding direct hits on Pakistani military sites.

However, explosions rocked multiple areas, and witnesses in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, reported immediate power outages following the attacks.

Pakistan’s military confirmed that missiles struck three locations, calling the offensive provocative and warning of a strong response.

A spokesman for the armed forces told ARY News that Pakistan was preparing to retaliate against India’s military actions.

The strikes follow last month’s deadly attack on Hindu tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir, which left 26 people dead.

India blamed Pakistan for the attack and vowed retaliation, while Pakistan denied involvement, insisting that it had intelligence suggesting India was planning military action as a response.

Diplomatic leaders have urged restraint, warning that the escalation could destabilize South Asia.

According to Al Jazeera, analysts believe the strikes could fuel further conflict, placing additional pressure on regional stability.

Indian officials defended the military operation, stating that it was necessary to prevent future terror attacks, while Pakistani authorities warned that further aggression would not go unanswered.

With both nations on high alert, defense experts predict that Pakistan’s response will be crucial in determining whether the conflict intensifies or de-escalates.

Global powers continue to push for diplomatic solutions, but with both sides standing firm, uncertainty looms over the region.
