Impala poaching ring cracked
BEITBRIDGE – A 21-year-old from Mapani, Beitbridge was hauled before the courts for unlawfully killing four impalas inside Bishopstone Estate, with the poached animals valued at USD 4,000.
Intelligent Moyo appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrate’s Court facing two counts of contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act.
Allegations are that on September 10, 2024, at around 0300 hours, Moyo and three accomplices still at large, unlawfully killed four impalas.
Further allegations state that Moyo unlawfully hunted a kudu on September 28, 2024.
The court heard that, the accused was identified by Game Scouts during a patrol, leading to his arrest and the recovery of four impala legs at his residence.
Moyo will return to court on October 7,2024 for trial.
