Michael was visiting South Africa to meet the then-president Nelson Mandela where he met a number of then-high-profile musicians including Thandiswa Mazwai.

The former Bongo Maffin lead singer was posing for a photo with Nelson Mandela and Michael Jackson when the American singer stepped on her feet.

While smiling, she told Michael that he had put his foot on hers and the King of Pop can be seen apologizing for stepping on her.

The old video resurfaced online with many of the South African singer’s fans sharing light moments about how unapologetic she was.

“Thandiswa Mazwai actually told Michael Jackson that you stepped on me 😆😆😆🤩🤩,” one user said.

Thandiswa has been relevant in the South African music scene since her debut in 1996 when she joined the kwaito music group Bongo Maffin.

She left the group to start her own musical journey and released her debut album Zabalaza which got her nominated for BBC Radio 3 Planet Awards and attained double platinum status.

Despite being on the low lately, she still performs for private bookings.
