“I Have PTSD”: Burna Boy Explains Sudden Exit from Concert

Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has spoken out about why he abruptly left the stage during the 2025 Greater Lagos Countdown concert.

In an Instagram story, the Afrofusion singer revealed that he has PTSD, which can be triggered if he is startled on stage. He walked off during his performance on Tuesday night after a fan tried to grab him.

PTSD, or post-traumatic stress disorder, is a condition that makes it hard for someone to recover after experiencing a shocking event.

Burna Boy urged fans to respect his boundaries and thanked them for their support. He said, “It was a free show. I was supposed to perform for 10 minutes but ended up on stage for almost an hour. Everyone knows my rule about being startled while I’m performing.”

He added, “I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Please don’t jump on my stage like that! I have PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year!”

The concert was held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and was part of an annual celebration across five areas of Lagos, including Ikorodu, Badagry, Agege, and Epe.

Other performers at the event included Olamide, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, Seyi Vibez, 9ice, BNXN, and fuji musician Adewale Ayuba.
