Hwange Woman Kills Daughter After Facing Mockery Over Disability

HWANGE – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested Melody Mwiinde (23) in connection with the alleged murder of her six-year-old daughter, which occurred on April 23, 2025, at Mujimba 9, Siabuwa.

In a statement shared on its Twitter handle, ZRP confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect allegedly hanged the child using an electrical cable tied to a tree branch before dumping the body in a disused hut.

Authorities say the woman allegedly confessed to killing her daughter due to mockery from people who ridiculed her for raising a disabled child, whom the father had reportedly disowned.

Police investigations into the case are ongoing and ZRP has urged the public to refrain from acts of violence.
