Hwange Man Gets 10 Months Prison Sentence For Assaulting Neighbour Over Stolen Money

HWANGE – Letivicus Sichoni (25) of Makwikwa village, Hwange, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for assaulting his neighbour Njabulo Mahlangu (38).

Sichoni appeared before the Hwange Magistrate’s Court facing assault charges.

According to State papers, the incident occurred on February 9, 2025, when Sichoni attacked Mahlangu with a wooden stick, suspecting him of stealing money from his phone pouch.

The court heard that Mahlangu sustained serious injuries, including a fractured left wrist and a cut on his left eyebrow.

He received medical treatment at St. Patrick’s Hospital.

Sichoni’s actions were deemed unwarranted and excessive by the court, which emphasized the seriousness of the offense.

The 10-month jail sentence reflects the court’s commitment to upholding the law and protecting citizens’ rights.
