Hitmaker in Distress: Dr Tawanda’s Fight for Recovery After Horror Crash

Renowned music producer and performer, Tawanda ‘Dr Tawanda’ Benson, is in dire need of financial support after surviving a harrowing accident on March 6 in Mutare.
The artist, known for his infectious beats and electrifying performances, now finds himself battling severe injuries that threaten both his health and career.
In an exclusive interview with H-Metro Dr Tawanda revealed that he suffered a broken hand, fractured ribs, and head injuries in the crash.
The situation has left him unable to work, forcing him to seek assistance from well-wishers to fund his urgent medical treatment in South Africa.
“The accident happened while I was on my way back from visiting my children at school,” Dr Tawanda explained.
“I was with my relatives, and though we all survived, we sustained serious injuries. My hand is broken, and I need surgery. If I can raise between US$500 and US$1,000, it will help cover my treatment costs.”
With live performances and music production being his lifeline, the injuries have put his entire career at risk.
He fears that without the necessary treatment, he might never regain his ability to perform at his best.
“I am bedridden, and it’s hard for me to do my usual work. As an artist, you need to be active, but now I’m completely down. I have no income, and I really need help to recover,” he pleaded.
Social media has since rallied behind the star, with fans and industry peers mobilizing fundraising efforts to help him get the care he desperately needs.
As one of Zimbabwe’s most beloved entertainers, Dr Tawanda’s struggle is a stark reminder of the fragility of life—one moment at the top, and the next, in need of a helping hand. Will his supporters come through in his hour of need? Time will tell.
