Highlanders Club House in Hot Water Over Licensing Violations

Highlanders Club House kitchen is among several businesses in Bulawayo that have been penalized by the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) for operating without a valid license.

The facility was cited last month for failing to comply with regulatory health standards, including neglecting to have its food handlers medically examined.

According to the latest council report, 1,157 premises across the city were inspected, with multiple compliance notices issued.

Businesses found in violation include Blue Lagoon Butchery (Thorngrove), Sunset Bottle Store (Entumbane), Endaweni Lodge (Matsheumhlophe), Retreat Lodge (Matsheumhlophe), Skies Meals (CBD), Prime Choice Butchery, Renkini Fresh Foods and Mzilikazi Gardens.

The Herald reports that the crackdown is part of broader efforts by the city council to enforce hygiene and licensing regulations across all food-handling establishments.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of strict compliance to ensure public safety.

Business operators have been urged to rectify licensing and health violations immediately, as failure to comply could result in further penalties or possible closures.
