Highlanders CEO Resigns Amid Corruption Scandal

Highlanders Football Club chief executive officer, Brian Moyo, has stepped down following allegations of corruption linked to the purchase of two players from Bulawayo Chiefs, known as “The Ninjas.”
The players were acquired after the team’s relegation from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League last year, sparking an internal investigation into the matter.
Moyo is accused of inflating the transaction value, pocketing US$5,000 for himself. Reports suggest he presented an invoice of US$23,000 for the players, while their actual combined cost was US$18,000.
The club has since accepted his resignation but emphasized that the investigation will proceed.
Highlanders chairman Kenneth Mhlophe confirmed the development, stating that the disciplinary process and investigations remain active despite Moyo’s departure.
“The club has received and accepted Brian Moyo’s resignation amid ongoing investigations into alleged corruption and misappropriation of funds.”
“Stakeholders are assured that due process will be observed,” Mhlophe remarked.
Previously, Moyo had succeeded Sihlangu Dlodlo, whose mysterious death last year sent shockwaves through the football fraternity, according to the Newsday.
Meanwhile, Ronald Moyo, another former Highlanders CEO, now holds a similar position at the Premier Soccer League newcomers, Scottland FC.
The allegations have raised concerns among the fans and Stakeholders, with Highlanders aiming to restore trust by ensuring transparency in the disciplinary process.
