Harare’s Most Wanted Murder Suspect Finally Falls Into Police Net

HARARE – A 24-year-old murder suspect, Crybet Sidindi, who evaded capture for a year, was finally arrested and appeared in court yesterday.

He is facing murder charges and is set to return to court on April 30 for further proceedings.

According to Prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawu, the incident occurred on April 5 last year. Sidindi, along with accomplices who have already been arrested, allegedly conspired to rob individuals seeking the services of sex workers along Joburg Lines in Mbare, Harare.

The group targeted an intoxicated victim walking alone, forcibly taking his satchel and stealing a Bluetooth speaker, an Itel cellphone, and airtime recharge cards worth US$25.

During the robbery, the attackers stabbed the victim, leaving him fatally wounded before fleeing with his belongings.

A witness, Peter Mubhoyi, saw the incident and immediately raised the alarm, prompting the community to mobilize and chase the suspects.

Their efforts led to the capture of two accomplices, Tapuwanashe Beaven Paurosi and Frank Mabvumbidze, while Sidindi managed to escape.

The Herald reported that Sidindi had been on the run for a year while law enforcement continued its investigations.

His luck ran out on April 15 when detectives from CID Homicide Harare received a tip-off about his whereabouts.

Authorities discovered that he was at Harare Remand Prison, leading to his immediate arrest and subsequent court appearance yesterday.

Sidindi now awaits further legal proceedings as law enforcement continues its pursuit of justice.
