Harare Youth to Get Money Smart at High-Impact Workshop
HARARE – A groundbreaking financial literacy workshop for youth kicks off August 16 at Prince Edward High School, offering hands-on lessons in money management and entrepreneurship to help Zimbabwe’s next generation build a smarter, more secure future.
The event, hosted by Gabriel Chipara, founder of Mantis Africa P/L, will run in two sessions: children from 9am to 12pm, and teens from 2pm to 4pm.
Chipara, a financial wellness expert, said the workshop is designed to help young people understand how money works and how to make it work for them.
He emphasized that financial independence is not just a skill, but a mindset that must be nurtured early.
Virtual guest speakers will include Ken Sharpe, CEO of WestProp Holdings, and Sylvia Sanyanga, founder of The Nate Foundation.
Both are expected to share insights on entrepreneurship and leadership, with a focus on how financial literacy can empower youth to shape their futures.
Organizers say these sessions will expose participants to real-world success stories and practical advice.
Students attending the workshop will also showcase their small businesses and interact with special guests such as Tendai Chakanyuka, members of the Sables rugby team, and parenting coach Chipo Gozho.
According to the organizing team, these interactions are meant to inspire confidence and encourage mentorship.
Additional sessions will be led by Legacy Creation Academy, which teaches wealth-building and legacy planning, and Dream House Pictures Film Studio, which mentors aspiring creatives.
Parents and teachers are invited to attend and engage with facilitators, creating a shared learning environment that bridges generations.
To support mental wellness, free counseling services will be available for parents and educators.
Organizers believe this holistic approach is essential to nurturing financially literate and emotionally resilient youth.
