Harare residents mourn loss of 10-year-old boy in mill accident

HARARE – The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a tragic incident in which a 10-year-old boy lost his life after being trapped in an abandoned soil washing mill at Eyecourt Farm Waterfalls in Harare on Saturday, October 26.
The minor sustained fatal head injuries after being crushed by machinery at an abondoned soil washing mill.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“A 10-year-old male juvenile died on October 26, 2024 after being trapped in an abandoned soil washing mill at Eyecourt Farm, Waterfalls, Harare.”
“The incident occurred while the 10-year-old boy was playing with his friend in the area. As they explored, the victim accidentally fell into the unsecured abandoned soil washing mill and tragically, his head was crushed by the machinery,” he said.
Police have issued a warning to parents and guardians to ensure children’s safety, following the tragic incident at the abandoned soil washing mill.
