Harare Court Steps In as 25-Year Marriage Falls Apart Over Unpaid Bride Price

HARARE – A 25-year marriage has fallen apart as a Harare woman accuses her husband of verbal abuse and sexu@l harassment, citing his failure to pay a bride price.

Ms Happiness Moyo approached the Harare Civil Court on Thursday, alleging that Mr Tedious Mudzana mistreated her despite their decades-long relationship and five children.

Moyo stated that Mudzana insulted her even after she covered his medical expenses, arguing that it made up for the money he had spent on her mother’s burial.

In response, Mudzana did not deny the allegations but claimed that his wife had refused him conjugal rights for six months and rejected his request to take another wife.

The case highlights ongoing tensions between traditional marriage customs and modern legal frameworks.

Reports from The Herald indicate that Presiding Magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ruled in favour of Moyo, ordering Mudzana to cease all forms of harassment.
