Harare Businessman Embroiled in Theft Scandal

HARARE – Vhurumu Mutero appeared in court today facing charges of theft of trust property after allegedly embezzling US$125 000.
Mutero denied the charges, claiming that the complainant was trying to get back at him.
The complainant had allegedly owed Mutero US$80 000, which led to a dispute between the two.
The court heard that the complainant had given Mutero US$125 000 to buy specific items. These included a Toyota single-cab truck, household furniture and office furniture.
The list of items was extensive, featuring four double-door refrigerators, four 65-inch TVs, a washing machine, and various furniture sets.
