Gutu RDC Revenue Officer freed on bail over $22K fraud charges

GUTU – A 46-year-old revenue officer from Mashonganyika village, Chief Serima Gutu has been granted bail after defrauding the Gutu Rural District Council (RDC) of $22 000 from shop license payments he collected.

Alec Mukaro was arraigned before the Gutu Magistrate Court on fraud charges.

The State alleges that between December 2023 and December 2024, the accused collected $65 840 in shop license payments from Gutu businesses but failed to remit $21 975 to the relevant authorities.

The court granted bail to the accused, requiring a $200 deposit, no witness interference and regular Friday police check-ins.
