Guruve Serial Killer Remanded in Hospital as Court Defers Bail

The suspected Guruve serial killer Anymore Zvitsva (33) has been remanded in hospital after appearing before the Harare Regional Magistrates’ Court on multiple serious charges.

In a statement after the court appearance, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the matter remained before the courts as investigations continue.

“Anymore Zvitsva (33) of Vheremu Village, Chief Chipuriro, Guruve, is facing 12 counts comprising eight counts of murder, two counts of rape and two counts of attempted murder,” the State told the court.

Prosecutors said the accused was arrested on January 3, 2026, with the offences “allegedly committed between April 2024 and December 2025 in Guruve, Nyakapupu, Mvurwi, Muzura Farm and surrounding areas.”

“The accused cannot be remanded in a correctional facility and will remain under medical supervision,” the court heard.

Ruling on the matter, the magistrate said, “The accused is hereby remanded in hospital and is advised to apply for bail at the High Court.”

NPAZ said:

“The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe remains committed to protecting communities from violent crime.

“Matters of this gravity will be pursued with firmness to ensure justice for victims and the safety of the public.”

Zvitsva was remanded to January 19, 2026, for further proceedings.
