Gunshot Panic Rocks Enzo Ishall Gig in Shurugwi

What was meant to be a fun-filled night of music turned into sheer panic in Shurugwi on Saturday when violence erupted during a show featuring Zimdancehall stars Enzo Ishall and Chillmaster at the Vital Lounge.
The much-anticipated gig descended into chaos as angry revellers hurled bottles and missiles onto the stage, forcing police to storm the venue to restore order.
Panic gripped fans when what sounded like a gunshot echoed through the club, sending terrified partygoers scrambling for safety.

Witnesses described the scene as a nightmare.
“The moment I heard the gun sound, I just froze, then ran. People were screaming and pushing each other,” said one fan, Memory.
“It was like everyone was trying to escape something dangerous.”
Another concertgoer, Tanaka, said he was hit by a bottle while in the VIP section.
“I thought it would be safe there, but it wasn’t. My niece was struck on the head. It was pure chaos I thought something worse was going to happen,” he said.
The commotion reportedly started around 1am after delays in performances and the no-show of artist Jnr Spragga left the crowd restless.
When the lights suddenly went off, many assumed the event was over triggering the violent backlash.
“The show was disorganised. We paid US$10, but it started too late and one of the main artistes wasn’t even there,” said a fan identified as Trish.
“After the blackout and the gun sound, everyone just wanted to get out.”
Police were called to disperse the mob as frightened revellers fled in all directions.
Enzo Ishall eventually performed around 3am, but by then, much of the crowd had already left.
Chillmaster later said his own set had gone smoothly and that he only learned of the violence afterwards.
According to H-Metro, the incident has sparked fresh concerns about crowd control and security at live music events in mining towns like Shurugwi, where tempers often flare when shows don’t go as planned.
