Greek Woman Files for Divorce After ChatGPT Claims Husband’s Infidelity

A Greek woman has filed for divorce after ChatGPT allegedly claimed her husband was cheating—a claim she accepted without question—marking the first known AI-driven marriage breakup in Greece.
Married for 12 years with two young children, the woman used ChatGPT as part of a viral trend.
She asked the AI about her marriage and according to her, it responded with shocking claims—that her husband was involved with a younger woman who intended to break up their home.
Taking ChatGPT’s claim at face value, she promptly removed her husband from their home and moved ahead with divorce proceedings.
Her husband was stunned by the sudden decision. “She has a habit of following trends. At first, I thought it was harmless, but then she kicked me out based on what an AI told her,” he told ANT1 News.
He also revealed that similar incidents had occurred before, including when an astrologer convinced his wife of unfounded suspicions.
His lawyer, Phoivos Stroungaris, criticized the reliance on AI-generated speculation in legal matters. “An AI-generated claim holds no legal weight and my client remains innocent unless proven otherwise,” he argued.
According to Daily Star, this unusual case has sparked discussions on AI’s growing influence over personal decisions.
Experts caution that AI, despite its capabilities, should not replace rational judgment in serious matters such as divorce.
Now, the husband is seeking custody of their children.
As AI increasingly influences personal decisions, legal experts caution that this case could set a concerning precedent for future disputes.
