Grade 4 Girl in Gokwe Smeared by Human Waste — Family Seeks Answers

A Grade 4 pupil from Katsvanzva Village in Gokwe is at the center of a disturbing mystery, as her family claims she is being supernaturally afflicted by human waste that appears in her hands, mouth, and on her body — with no visible source.
The 10-year-old girl, the youngest of nine children, has endured the bizarre ordeal for four months.
Her father, Amon Chitumbura (56), says the strange events began when she complained of a headache at school and was sent home.
What followed, he explains, was a nightmare that continues to torment the family.
“This started four months ago when she fell ill at school. Her teachers called her elder brother to fetch her. From there, things worsened.
“We sought help from prophets, traditional healers, and hospitals. She even began hiding food in her undergarments, and it would disappear as if eaten by invisible beings,” he recounted.
Chitumbura, who had just returned from working in South Africa, says the family began witnessing spiritual manifestations.
A voice, claiming to be his late mother’s spirit, allegedly demanded the removal of goblins said to be tormenting the child.
“The spirit says my late mother is responsible. It tells us to remove the goblin spirit from her.
“Suddenly, she’s holding human waste in her hands, or it appears in her mouth, on her head, or beside her,” he revealed.
The child often cries for food like bread, but when given, she hides it in her clothes and it mysteriously vanishes.
The waste reportedly emits a stench so strong that it makes the area around her unbearable.
“She hides food like bread, sadza, and meat in her undergarments, and it disappears.
“Wherever we go, we are told goblins are feeding on it. We don’t understand why she hides food in her clothes,” lamented her mother, Maidei Chivata (53).
After hospital visits yielded no answers, the family was referred to a traditional healer through Chief Chireya.
The healer stayed at their home for two weeks and demanded a cow, US$300, and two blankets as payment.
“We were referred to Chief Chireya, who connected us with a traditional healer. She stayed at our home for two weeks and demanded a cow, US$300, and two blankets as payment,” Chitumbura explained.
Despite receiving herbal baths, the child’s condition did not improve.
The family is now demanding a refund of their livestock, money, and blankets, and has taken the matter back to Chief Chireya.
When this publication visited the family in Harare last week, the girl was unable to speak a single word.
Her condition appeared unchanged, and her parents say they are emotionally and financially drained.
Now, the Chitumbura family is appealing to both traditional and medical professionals for urgent intervention — hoping someone, somewhere, can help their daughter escape the torment that has turned their lives upside down.
