Gokwe Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Raping 11-Year-Old After Offering Biscuits

A 50-year-old man from Gokwe has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping an 11-year-old girl who is in Grade 5.

The Gokwe Regional Magistrate’s Court found him guilty on two counts of the crime.

According the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, In early 2024, in the Chief Chireya area of Gokwe North, the man approached the girl while she was looking after goats.

He offered her snacks and biscuits before forcing her to lie down and assaulting her.

He threatened the girl to keep the abuse a secret.

The abuse continued until February 18, 2026, when the girl’s brother caught him in the act in a grazing area.
