Glenview Father Seeks Final US$7,000 for Life-Saving Kidney Transplant in India

A 44-year-old Glenview resident, Tapiwa Makwangudze, is racing against time to raise funds for a life-saving kidney transplant scheduled next month in India.

Diagnosed with end-stage renal failure two years ago, his condition has deteriorated sharply, and doctors warn any delay could be fatal.

He and his family estimate they need a further US $7 000 to cover medical fees and associated costs after pulling together US $18 027 so far.

The full expense—including surgery, airfare, and a projected three-week post-operative hospital stay is pegged at just over US $25 000.

Since launching on GoFundMe in early June, the campaign has attracted more than 350 individual donations from Zimbabweans at home and abroad.

Local fundraising events from church bake sales to car washes have also bolstered the total.

According to H-metro , community leaders and Makwangudze’s former colleagues have joined the appeal, hosting a benefit concert this weekend to help close the final funding gap.

They stress that securing the remaining US $7 000 by month’s end is critical if doctors are to proceed with the operation without risking further complications.

Donors can contribute directly via CBZ Bank (Account Name: Melody Muzamhindo, A/C 08927376740010), or through Ecocash and InnBucks on 078 374 6565.

His wife, two school-aged children, and extended family have expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of generosity.

They remain hopeful that with swift community support, Mr. Makwangudze will fly to Mumbai in time for pre-surgery evaluations and a successful transplant.
